Przemysław Czarnek, the minister of education and science, started cooperation with UNICEF in order to counteract the educational exclusion of children and youth from Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, the Memorandum of Understanding between Minister Przemysław Czarnek and UNICEF, signed on June 8, reflects the agreements reached on responding to the urgent needs of children and refugee families in the Republic of Poland, as well as joint efforts to implement children’s rights and introduce the Second Generation of Human Rights, which is the right to education.
“Our goal is to prepare Ukrainian children and youth for the new school year so that they are ready for new challenges and learning in a Polish school”, said Minister Czarnek.
The representative of UNICEF, Rashed Mustafa, said that Poland made history.
“During the several weeks of the conflict in Ukraine, over 200,000 children were admitted to Polish schools. This is a huge success of the Ministry of Education and Science, congratulations! Poland is an example for other countries in helping Ukrainian children”, said Rashed Mustafa.
The assumptions of the signed Memorandum include the exchange of educational materials, access to the Learning Passport platform and organization of summer holidays for Ukrainian children, including educational activities.
The Learning Passport platform is a key element of UNICEF’s support for education in the Republic of Poland and the Integrated Educational Platform.
Learning Passport is a solution designed to manage an educational crisis, including restrictions related to access to education for children displaced as a result of war, natural disasters, disease epidemics or other crises.
