On April 5, at 20:30 pm, all Twitter users will be able to take part in a virtual theatrical performance, which will take place both at the Berliner Ensemble and the People’s Theater in Krakow. The Burgtheater from Vienna will join as a guest appearance. The plot of the show will be created by Twitter users themselves.
According to the People’s Theater, everyone who will tweet the hashtag #HopeVorstellung on their accounts will become co-authors of the story “Mother HOPE and her children”.
The story is a paraphrase of the title of the famous play by Bertolt Brecht, but it refers to tragedies that are currently happening in Ukraine. The statue of a mother with children, named “HOPE”, is a tribute to all Ukrainian mothers who, together with their children, struggled many kilometres to escape the hell of war. It is called “HOPE” because the organizers hope and believe that Ukrainian mothers will find shelter and security thanks to people of goodwill.
The words “HOPE” and “mother of HOPE” also provide a noble cause for which the performance will be held on Twitter. All Twitter users, participating in the performance, will be able to support a fundraiser for refugees from Ukraine. The collected funds will be allocated to the organization of therapeutic and cultural theatre activities for Ukrainian children, which will be organized by the People’s Theater.
The performance is part of the international forum “HOPE”, which will take place on April 4-6 this year as an initiative of the European theatre network PlayON! including the People’s Theater.
