Sting posted a new acoustic cover of his song “Russians” on his 1985 album “The Dream of the Blue Turtles” on social media. He also asked to send aid parcels for Ukrainians to a Polish agency mentioned by a director Małgorzata Szumowska.
In the new version of the anti-war hit, Sting plays the guitar and sings with the cellist Ramir Belgardt. In his post on social media, the artist says that he has rarely performed the song in years, as he never thought it would be relevant again.
Sting emphasizes that because of one man’s bloody and woefully erroneous decision to invade a peaceful, non-threatening neighbor, this song is a new appeal for humanity for brave Ukrainians fighting this brutal tyranny, and for many Russians who are protesting against this violation of rights despite threats of arrest and imprisonment. “We all love our children. Stop the war”, says Sting.
In his post on Instagram, Sting asks to send parcels for Ukrainians to the address of the Polish shipping agency from Chełm. The artist adds that each box should be labeled “HELP UKRAINE” and a description of what it contains (“Medicines”, “Clothes”, “Food”, “Humanitarian Aid”).
The British musician, multi-instrumentalist, singer and composer adds that the packages sent to the address of the Polish agency are delivered in cooperation with the armed forces of Ukraine and reach those who need them the most.
