The “”Jazz in Polish – Warsaw Live Sessions”” project will include 50 original performances by the leaders of the Polish jazz scene. Warsaw’s Jassmine club will host performances by the Dominik Wania Quartet, Paweł Kaczmarzyk Trio, Piotr Damasiewicz Into The Roots and Mateusz Gawęda Trio. A special guest will be the legendary American guitarist, Mike Stern.
“Jazz in Polish” returns to the Jassmine club after the well-received “Live Sessions For China & Korea 2022” series. From September to December last year, the musicians recorded ‘live’ concerts with Warsaw audiences for subsequent release in Asia.
As part of the current project, audiences will have the opportunity not only to listen to original music by leading Polish jazzmen, but also to take part in “live” broadcasts of the concerts. Recorded in video form, the performances will be made available on social media, and selected audio tracks on streaming platforms.
“An important element of the Warsaw event is to support the local scene, as well as to develop international cooperation and integrate the creative communities of other countries. The proposed programme is universal and aimed at a wide range of listeners. Over three years, the project will feature as many as 50 bands performing a variety of jazz, current and improvised music. Artists will also create works inspired by Warsaw for the project”, says Jakub Krzeszowski, creator of the ‘Jazz in Polish’ project.
The “Jazz in Polish” project has so far hosted several hundred events by Polish artists abroad, including regular concert tours in Asia. The musicians have most often visited China and the far corners of Central and East Asia, but they have also given concerts in Europe, where the project debuted in 2012 at one of the largest jazz festivals in the world, the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
