The Government Centre for Security (RCB) announced on Thursday that the head of the Polish government has signed an order introducing the second BRAVO alert level for Polish energy infrastructure located outside the borders of the Republic of Poland.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has signed an order introducing the 2nd BRAVO alert level for Polish energy infrastructure located outside the borders of the Republic of Poland. The order is in force from Wednesday until 30 November 2022, until 23.59.
The damage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines and the subsequent explosions have caused considerable concerns in Europe among others, about the safety of the offshore gas pipelines and cables.
Some of these failures occurred in the immediate vicinity of critical infrastructure used by Poland, including in the immediate vicinity of the SwePol Link line, which enables the exchange of electric energy between Poland and Sweden.
One of the explosions of a gas pipeline connecting Russia with Germany occurred in the immediate vicinity of a telecommunications link between Poland and Denmark, namely, the Baltica line. So far, none of this infrastructure has been damaged.
Asked by journalists about sabotage on Nord Stream 1 and Nord Stream 2, the Prime Minister replied that Russian services could possibly be responsible.
“According to the information we also get from our foreign friends, this is likely the work of Russian services”, Morawiecki said during his visit to Prague.
Alert degrees are primarily a signal to the services to be ready for action. The BRAVO alert level (second on a four-stage scale) is introduced when there is an increased and foreseeable threat of a terrorist event. This means that the services have information about the potential threat and, therefore, the public administration is obliged to be particularly vigilant.
