Incomes from tolls for trucks and buses on toll sections of national roads last year rose to PLN 2 billion 274.1 billion, according to the Ministry of Finance. A year earlier, these revenues amounted to PLN 2 billion 2 billion 108.7 million.
The network of national toll roads in Poland managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways is almost 3,700 km long. This year, tolls for a kilometre of toll national road range from 23 groszy to 73 groszy – depending on the vehicle’s emission standard, its maximum permissible weight, and the class of road it travels on.
The minister in charge of transport is the body responsible for the state policy on electronic tolls. He determines the directions of development of the road network covered by the electronic toll collection and the motorway toll. The list of roads and their sections on which electronic toll is collected and the rates of electronic toll are published in a decree.
Currently, the network of national toll roads in Poland managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways is almost 3,700 km and has not been expanded since 2017. Tolls must be paid for driving on tolled sections by all vehicles whose maximum permissible weight exceeds 3.5 tonnes, so, among others, trucks, or buses.
In addition to national roads, tolls are collected from all vehicles for the concession sections of motorways and selected sections of the A2 Konin – Stryków and A4 Wrocław – Sośnica motorways, managed by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways. The authority responsible for the collection of electronic toll for travel on national roads or their sections is the head of the National Fiscal Administration.
