The number of registrations of electric passenger cars and plug-in hybrids in Poland increased to 36,711 vehicles in 2023. This is 43 % of the total number of registrations of electric cars and plug-in hybrids in Poland, according to the electromobility counter launched and updated by the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA) and the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM).
At the end of December 2023, 98 348 electric passenger cars operated on Polish roads. Fully electric, passenger cars (BEVs, battery electric vehicles) numbered 51,211 units and plug-in hybrids (PHEVs, plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) numbered 47,137 units.
The number of electric vans and trucks was 5,880 units. Electric mopeds and motorbikes is also growing steadily, comprising 19,526 units at the end of December, as well as the number of hybrid cars and vans, which increased to 679,637 units. By the end of last year, Poland’s electric bus number had grown to 1,179 units.
“The number of registered electric vans, trucks and buses and plug-in hybrid passenger cars increased significantly last year. Undoubtedly, the increasing sales of electric vehicles are helped by the development of charging networks. And although the number of charging points should be higher, it is certain that the money recently earmarked to subsidise the construction of new charging stations will have a positive effect”, says PZPM president Jakub Faryś.
At the end of December 2023, there were 5,933 publicly available electric vehicle charging points (3,282 stations) in Poland. 26 % of them were fast direct current (DC) charging points and 74 % were free alternating current (AC) points with a capacity less than or equal to 22 kW. In December, 104 new points were put into operation including free alternating current (AC) points with a capacity less than or equal to 22 kW. In December, 104 new points started their operation.
