In September 2022, 1,414 new battery and hydrogen-powered cars were registered in Poland. This is this year’s record. There were more than 50% more clients for zero-emission cars than for electrified hybrids.
The Automobile Dealers Association stated that a total of 1,414 registrations of new battery-electric and hydrogen-powered passenger cars were recorded in September, based on data from the Polish Automotive Industry Association’s Central Vehicle Register.
This represents an increase of 89.5 % year-on-year (y/y). In August, 892 registrations were issued for zero-emission cars. This means that September saw a month-on-month increase of 58.5 % so September sales leapt to first place.
This year’s arithmetic average of sales/registrations is 884 units, and the median is 798, with September’s impressive result breaking them by 60 and 77.2%. To date, only twice sales have broken the barrier of the 1,000 registrations per month. Last December, it was 1 469 first registrations of new zero-emission passenger cars, and in March this year – 1 151 units.
In September this year, 923 new hybrids were registered (28.6% increase) and 205 units more on a year-on-year basis. In August, 781 registrations were issued for partially electrified passenger cars (18.2% increase) in month-on-month sales. This segment is losing momentum to zero-emission cars which sales are supported by subsidies from the government’s program ‘My Electric car’. In September, for the fourth consecutive month, the number of sold battery and hydrogen cars was higher than that of electrified hybrids.
The number of registrations of all new passenger cars in September this year was 35,819, thanks to growing demand from private customers and companies. Thanks to this, the industry recorded further growth.
