“Every year we increase the national budget for health care. In 2024, we have planned a record amount of PLN 190 billion. This is 2.5 times more than our predecessors did in 2015”, said Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki in Tomaszów Lubelski, where the hospital will be expanded. The authorities of the facility will receive nearly PLN 89 million from the state budget for this purpose.
The head of the Polish government recalled that the health of Poles is one of the priorities. “That is why we are constantly improving the functioning of health care. Every year we increase funds for the treatment of Poles. In 2015, PLN 77.2 billion was allocated for the health of Poles. In 2023, we have allocated PLN 170.3 billion for this purpose. In the 2024 budget, we have planned a record amount of over PLN 190 billion”, recalled Mateusz Morawiecki.
He pointed out that the increase in expenditure on health care is possible, among other things, thanks to the sealing of taxes. The funds obtained in this way are allocated for the implementation of government programmes in the field of healthcare.
As the Prime Minister convinced, the increased funds in the national budget allowed the elimination of limits to specialists for all patients and the introduction of free medicines for seniors 75+. As part of the New Tangibles programme, the free medicines programme has been extended to include two more age groups: children and adolescents up to the age of 18 and people over 65.
Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki cited investment in hospitals as an example of increasing spending on the health service. The hospital in Tomaszów Lubelski currently has 274 beds, but this will soon change. An expansion of the hospital has already been planned, costing more than PLN 111 million. Nearly PLN 89 million will be provided by the state budget.
„Tomaszów Lubelski will be the healthcare centre for the entire sub-region in the Lublin region. “In every corner of Poland such investments, whether in roads, health care, education, education or fire stations, community centres – are possible, because we have repaired the budget of the Polish state”, said the head of the Polish government.
