Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has signed an ordinance that introduces the first ALFA-CRP alarm level throughout the country. This is the lowest level and concerns threats in cyberspace.
The alert level is valid until 23 January 23:59. The introduction of the ALFA-CRP level is of a preventive nature – it is linked to cyber-attacks that have taken place in Ukraine in recent days, informed the Ministry of Digital Affairs.
Prime Minister Morawiecki’s decision was made after cyber-terrorists attacked Ukrainian government sites. In total, nearly 70 state websites were blocked, including the Diia platform, which is the equivalent of the Polish mObywatel application. The attacking program aimed to destroy data.
To ensure Poland’s security, the government decided to take precautionary measures. Based on conclusions of the meeting of the Critical Incidents Team, held at the Government Center for Security, as well as after consulting the Minister of Internal Affairs and Administration and the head of the Internal Security Agency, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed the ordinance introducing the first ALFA-CRP alert level.
The Ministry of Digitization explained that the emergency levels alias emergency levels CRP are introduced, amended and canceled by the Prime Minister by an ordinance pursuant to the Act of June 2016 on anti-terrorist activities. There are four alert levels: ALFA, BRAVO, CHARLIE and the highest – DELTA.
