President Andrzej Duda visited Poland’s largest rolling stock factories

by Dignity News
“PESA is the largest and most advanced rolling stock manufacturing plant in Poland. At the moment it is our pride”, said President Andrzej Duda during his visit to the PESA Bydgoszcz SA plants, where he met with the management and representatives of the crew and toured the plant.

In Bydgoszcz, the President had the opportunity to see the latest PESA products, including 847-series vehicles for the Czech Railways, as well as the SM42-6Dn hydrogen locomotive.

“For me it is a great joy that PESA is developing so brilliantly, increasing production, but above all that it produces such extremely modern rolling stock”, said President Duda.

In recent years PESA has won contracts worth billions of PLN abroad.

“This shows development, because of course our domestic needs are great, but in order to really develop very dynamically one must also sell abroad. Products from here are becoming more and more recognisable in our part of Europe”, added the President.

Krzysztof Zdziarski, President of the Management Board of PESA Bydgoszcz, recalled that the company’s strategy is to consistently increase its presence in the markets of Central and Eastern Europe, Germany, Italy, Scandinavia, and the Balkans. “At the moment PESA produces vehicles for customers from the Czech Republic, Romania and Estonia, the share of exports in the order portfolio exceeds 50%”, he added.

It is worth remembering that PESA is working on a project for high-speed rail trains, which it wants to offer to the domestic market as well as to foreign markets. The Bydgoszcz-based manufacturer has already held talks with the Lithuanians to supply such vehicles for the construction of the Rail Baltica line.

PESA is Poland’s largest rolling stock manufacturer and one of the largest employers in the region, which together with its local trading partners is a regional economic hub. Trains and trams from PESA run in all Polish regions and most major cities and more than ten European countries.
