Polish solutions to be included in the Trans-European Transport Network

by Dignity News
Polish ministry of funds and regional policy informed on Twitter that the European Union’s plans for the TEN-T transport network and its extension to Ukraine were the main topic of talks held by the deputy minister for funds and regional policy, chief government plenipotentiary for the Central Transport Port Marcin Horała with deputy directors-general of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport Kristian Schmidt and Harald Ruijters in Brussels.

“The European institutions are in favour of our position and the entire network of interconnections in places important to us will be included in TEN-T”, assured Deputy Minister Horała. He noted that the European Commission has also proposed extending the TEN-T to Ukraine.

“This is unprecedented. It is one of the important proofs that Ukraine’s association agreement with the European Union is not just an empty declaration, but is followed by real actions”, Horała stressed.

The Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) is an instrument for coordinating and ensuring cohesion and complementarity of infrastructure investments.

Following a revision of the TEN-T guidelines completed in 2013, its new layout on the territory of the EU Member States was established. This layout consists of a core network, underpinning the development of the transport network on which EU action is to be concentrated, in particular cross-border sections, missing links, multi-modal connections and major bottlenecks, and a comprehensive network, ensuring accessibility and connectivity of all regions of the Union.

The TEN-T trans-European transport network comprises road, rail, air, sea and river routes, which are the most important interconnections for the development of the European Union, as well as point-to-point infrastructure in the form of seaports, airports, inland ports and road/rail terminals.
