The Polish Senate adopted a resolution recognising the Russian Federation authorities as a terrorist regime. The resolution also calls on the international community to support the International Criminal Tribunal investigating persons responsible for crimes in Ukraine. All senators present voted in favour of the resolution.
“The Senate of the Republic of Poland once again, in the strongest terms, condemns Russian aggression and calls on all countries that stand for peace, democracy and human rights to recognise the government of the Russian Federation as a terrorist regime”, says the resolution.
The authors of the document underlined the admiration in the world for the heroic defence of Ukraine’s independence by its citizens.
“Today, Ukraine is the most important place defending democracy and freedom. Russian invaders terrorise the inhabitants of Ukrainian cities, bombing civilian targets: kindergartens, schools, theatres and housing estates. Bandits in Russian uniforms torture and murder prisoners of war and civilians in the occupied territories. They abduct Ukrainian children to raise them as regime Janissaries. They deport, resettle and send Ukrainian citizens to the far periphery of Russia”, the senators wrote.
The resolution recalled that Poles know well from history all these acts of state terrorism.
“Europeans believed that they would never again be threatened by genocide and war crimes. Meanwhile, Vladimir Putin and his apparatus of violence have returned to the cruel practices of the Stalinist and Nazi regimes. Therefore, Russia must be defeated and deprived of its ability to threaten its neighbours”, added the senators.
In the resolution, the Senate thanks all Poles, governmental and local administrations, non-governmental organisations and entrepreneurs, for the huge assistance shown since 24 February to Ukrainians fleeing from Russian bombs, mainly women and children.
