For the ninth time, the presidential couple supported the Noble Parcel – a project of the “Spring ” Association. “This year, Andrzej Duda and Agata Kornhauser-Duda prepared gifts for a needy family in which a single, sick mother is raising a son with intellectual disabilities”, announced the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland (KPRP).

This is the ninth time that the presidential couple has joined the initiative. This time, donations will be given to a family where a single, sick mother is raising a son with intellectual disabilities. The daughter, who has had to reduce her paid work to look after her family, is being helped with the very expensive rehabilitation.

Launched in 2000 by Kraków’s Spring Association, the “Noble Parcel” project is one of the largest social programmes in Poland. Volunteers reach thousands of families across Poland.

“Together with a supply of food and detergents, warm clothes, a gas cooker that has been missing for a long time or pots and pans, families receive much more: emotional support and a feeling that they are not alone with their problems. This nationwide project to help families in difficult material situations, implemented by the Spring Association, pursues a mission to encourage people to donate to others, to become better, to feel needed. It inspires cooperation between volunteers, donors, and families, creating a community”, reads the president.pl website.

At the Presidential Palace, the ‘Noble Parcel’ was initiated by the late Maria Kaczyńska, who prepared help for a large family from the Warmińsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship.

This year, during the so-called weekend of miracles (Saturday and Sunday 16 and 17 December) parcels were delivered to 17012 families. Last year, nearly 15,500 families received a ‘Noble Parcel’. The total value of the aid given in parcels amounted to almost PLN 59 million. The average value of a parcel for one family was PLN 3.9 thousand.
