Polish President Andrzej Duda arrived on Thursday 30 August in the United Arab Emirates, where he is attending the COP28 climate conference in Dubai. During the summit, Andrzej Duda is expected to speak about the need for a just energy transition and emphasise the importance of nuclear energy. The visit will last until Saturday 2 December.
Head of the Office of International Policy Mieszko Pawlak announced that Andrzej Duda will primarily emphasise the importance of nuclear energy.
During this year’s Summit, the President will also speak about the need for a just energy transition, international cooperation in developing ambitious pro-climate solutions, but also keeping in mind the dignity and quality of life of our societies.
Pawlak says that “Andrzej Duda very strongly supports the development of nuclear energy in Poland, as it is an important step to ensure Poland’s energy security and stability”. He pointed out that in recent years, the Polish authorities, the government and the presidential centre, have taken intensive steps towards building a stable nuclear power industry.
“Investing in the atom is not only a path to climate neutrality, but also, and very importantly, a solid foundation for our energy security. The atom also means new jobs, stabilisation of energy prices, and the demand for energy will surely only grow”, explained Mieszko Pawlak.
The Head of the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Poland, Marcin Mastalerek, informed that “on Saturday morning Polish time, the President will give a very important speech in which he will talk about the atom, as well as recall COP24 in Katowice, including the topic of a just transition”.
As Minister Mastalerek added, the speech is worth listening to. “As Poland, we will join the declaration of countries such as the US and France, which want to triple nuclear energy production”, he stressed.
