Polish President calls a briefing with Prime Minister, ministers and military commanders

A briefing called by Polish President Andrzej Duda and attended by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, the heads of the ministries of national defence Mariusz Blaszczak and internal affairs and administration Mariusz Kaminski and military commanders took place at the National Security Bureau (BBN) on the evening of 25 October.

According to the Head of the National Security Office Jacek Siewiera, who participated in the council, the topics of the meeting included Prime Minister Morawiecki’s visit to Berlin and issues related to the reconstruction of Ukraine. He pointed out that the reconstruction of energy and communication infrastructure in Ukraine determines the resilience of the country.

The Minister indicated that issues of allied cooperation and continued allied support for Ukraine within NATO, were also raised, as well as “the information provided by Russian Minister Shoygu in his talks and the positions that the allies are taking in clearly identifying the risks and serious consequences that could be linked to possible provocations related to the use of any form of nuclear weapons, including tactical nuclear weapons or dirty bombs”.

The head of the BBN stressed that the President is committed to ensuring that the flow of information at the highest level is smooth and effective.

Minister Siewiera noted that the briefing follows on from previous meetings that have been held periodically since the beginning of Russia’s war against the Ukraine.

Earlier, the BBN Chief met with US Ambassador to Poland Marek Brzezinski, and discussed Polish-American cooperation in supporting Ukraine, NATO policy and bilateral relations.

The head of the BBN also announced that he had met with Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zwarych.

The National Security Bureau announced that further consultations between the BBN Chief and the US administration are planned in the near future.
