Jacek Sasin, Minister of State Assets, and Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, met with representatives of Korea’s largest energy company KEPCO and its subsidiary KHNP. The meeting concerned the construction of a nuclear power plant in Pątnów.
“We are consistently implementing the nuclear power development project in Poland. This energy is reliable, cheap and safe. In 10-12 years nuclear energy will be the basis of our energy mix. Construction of nuclear power plants in Poland is a key issue for our energy security. The Pątnów nuclear power plant project to be implemented by PGE, ZE PAK and KHNP is a complement to the government’s Polish Nuclear Power Programme. Today’s meeting is another step towards the realisation of this project”, says Minister of State Assets Jacek Sasin.
As PGE’s president emphasises, the company is keeping the Pątnów nuclear power plant project up to date.
“The best example is today’s meeting at the PGE headquarters with our foreign partners in this investment: the largest power company in Korea and owner of most Korean power plants KEPCO and its subsidiary KHNP that builds and operates nuclear power plants in Korea and abroad”, says Dąbrowski.
During the meeting, key issues for the project were discussed: research and preparation of the site for construction, preparation of the environmental impact report, the future business structure of the project at different stages and preliminary financing issues.
A letter of intent to build a nuclear power plant in Pątnów was signed on 30 October 2022 between PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, the Pątnów Adamów Konin Power Plant Complex, and the Korean company KHNP. The Ministry of State Assets and the Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy also concluded intergovernmental cooperation agreements.
