Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov discussed the unblocking of border crossings between the countries with Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak. The politicians met in Warsaw.

“We presented key figures and analytical data on cargo transport by Ukrainian and Polish carriers. They show that the problems the protesters are talking about do not in fact exist”, informed the Minister for Development of Municipalities, Territories and Infrastructure of Ukraine.

The Polish infrastructure ministry said that the aim of the meeting was to analyse infrastructure issues, with a particular focus on the protest by representatives of the Polish transport industry.

“Together with the Ukrainian partners, we must find a solution to the causes of the ongoing protest and meet the expectations of entrepreneurs who operate in the area of freight transport between Poland and Ukraine”, said Klimczak.

The head of the Ministry of Infrastructure stressed that he is determined to resolve the situation of the protest of road transport entrepreneurs on the Polish-Ukrainian border, which has been ongoing since 6 November.

“We are planning to work out a joint position later this week in Kiev together with representatives of the Polish government”, said Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.

He added that he was grateful to his colleagues in the new Polish government for their open dialogue and willingness to solve problems together. “We are working to ensure the free flow of exports and imports across our border”, he added.

A protest by Polish transport operators has been taking place at the Polish-Ukrainian border crossings in Dorohusk and Hrebenne for more than a month. They are demanding, among other things, a ban on the registration of transport companies with foreign capital in Poland and a solution to problems with the Ukrainian electronic queue system.
