Polish History Museum showing “#My Souvenir” online exhibition

by DignityNews.eu

The Polish History Museum has made available the online exhibition “#My Souvenir” on the website http://mojapamiatka.muzhp.pl, which is a summary of the social campaign initiated in 2020 by Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.

The action was aimed at people over 60 who wanted to share their memories. The starting point for the story was a photo, document or video from the home archive.

In April 2020 during the inauguration of the program, the Prime Minister said to the older generation: “We love you for the experience and life wisdom that comes with age. You witness that, as a community and nation, we have struggled many times with difficulties. But thanks to your work and commitment, Poland is free and beautiful today. Your individual stories make up the identity of our nation. Therefore, I encourage you to take part in the # MySouvenir, which will allow you to immortalize your stories for years.

Gabriela Sierocińska-Dec, coordinator of the social campaign # MySouvenir emphasizes that she received almost 400 works and many memorabilia from home archives. “We heard a lot of touching family stories in telephone conversations. Many of them are very extensive and they often include many topics, both family and Polish history”, said Sierocińska-Dec.

The virtual exhibition # MySouvenir presents the most interesting works sent to the Museum, shown in chronological order. The oldest family stories date back to the beginning of the 19th century, and the newest ones are related to the end of the 1980s.

Inextricably linked to Polish history, individual periods have been placed on the timeline. Each memory has a short description that can be expanded to learn more about the heroes of the story, read excerpts from the submitted works, view additional photos, and download the entire work in a PDF file.
