Polish copper giant to launch its own electric mining vehicle

In 2022, KGHM Zanam is planning the final tests of the Zanper 2.0 electric mining vehicle on a chassis of its own design, which will open the way to start its serial production. In 2021, KGHM Zanam also started the project of an electric haulage vehicle (HT24E) with a capacity of 24 tons. 

In 2021, KGHM Zanam engineers completed the concept and design work of the Zanper 2.0 electric vehicle on a chassis of its own design, which allowed to start developing its prototype. 

This is the improved version of the Zanper, originally using the Toyota Land Cruiser chassis. In the case of the Zanper 2.0. the old construction was replaced with its own design. Thus, the vehicle is fully the result of the joint, intellectual work of KGHM Zanam’s staff. 

The ecological, emission-free vehicle will be used for the safe transport of people and materials in the mining plants of KGHM Polska Miedź SA. The product is a response to the growing demand of the domestic market, but the Company also is planning to export it. Final tests of the Zanper 2.0 vehicle will be implemented in 2022, which will open the way to start its serial production. In 2021 the project of an electric haulage vehicle (HT24E) with a capacity of 24 tons was also started.

Therefore, it is an element that contributes to the competitiveness of our enterprise”, said Bernard Cichocki, President of the Management Board of KGHM Zanam SA. 

In 2021, KGHM Zanam SA, the largest company of the KGHM Polska Miedź SA Group, gained a record net profit of PLN 26.3 million.
