Polish company Grupa Maspex to become owner of Becherovka brand

Polish company Maspex Group will become the owner of the Becherovka brand and a production facility including a warehouse in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. The company has concluded an agreement with Pernod Ricard in this regard. This is the Wadowice-based company’s 21st acquisition, including its 12th abroad.

“Becherovka will strengthen our position in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. It is currently number 2 in the herbal liqueur segment in the Czech Republic. What is very important for us – it is a brand with traditions, continuously produced since 1807. It also has great potential as it fits perfectly into market trends, such as a change in the consumption profile towards beverages with lower alcohol content, experimentation with flavours and premiumisation – consumers choosing high quality products”, said Maspex Group co-owner and CEO Krzysztof Pawiński.

Maspex Czech and Slovakia, the divisions of Maspex Group, were founded in 1998. Its activities include the production and sale of juices, nectars, fruit drinks, lemonades and energy drinks. In the Czech Republic the company operates a production plant in Veselí nad Lužnicí. The main brands on the Czech and Slovak markets are: Relax, Tiger, Dr Witt, Brand Original, River, Caprio and Kubik.

From 2020, the company also became the exclusive distributor of Nestea iced teas. In 2022, the portfolio was expanded to include alcohol brands under the Żubrówka brand. Maspex is the leader in the category of juices, nectars, beverages with the brands Relax, Caprio and also holds the second position in the market of beverage products for children with the brand Kubik. In the Czech Republic, it is the leader in energy drinks with the Tiger brand, and in Slovakia it ranks third in this segment.

Maspex is Poland’s largest privately owned food company and one of the largest in Central and Eastern Europe. The company has almost 70 brands in its portfolio and its products are present in more than 70 countries worldwide.
