Commander Artur Bilski, security expert, and organizer of the Security Forum Szczecin says that 24 Bayraktar drones purchased in Turkey by the Polish government will be deployed at the airbase in Mirosławiec.

The Turkish Bayraktar combat drones were purchased under the accelerated process of modernization and expansion of the Polish army, caused by the war in Ukraine. Bayraktars fought against the hostilities in Ukraine right after the Russian invasion on February 24. Drones are considered a particularly effective weapon against Russian forces.

“It is an exceptionally accurate and well-tailored purchase, although not everyone accepted it with understanding. Now everybody can see that these drones are very useful in Ukraine. The situation is similar to the products of WB Electronics – FlyEye, which will now be used by the Territorial Defense Forces. They proved to be excellent. The producer is a Polish company and we hosted it at a conference in March in Szczecin – says commander Bilski.

As part of the expansion of the army, Poland will also buy HIMARS launchers, Patriot batteries, CAMM missiles, Abrams tanks, F-35 fighters, observation satellites, and Polish Krab and Borsuk units. Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak has also announced cooperation with the defense industry of South Korea.

“We want to use the potential of South Korea to replace the post-Soviet equipment, still used by the Polish Army, with equipment compatible with American solutions. Such equipment is produced by South Korea”, said Minister Blaszczak during his visit to South Korea.

The head of the Ministry of National Defense announced that in addition to the purchase of Abrams tanks, negotiations are underway to buy Korean tanks.

“We want Korean tanks to be produced in Poland. We want technology to be transferred”, emphasized the head of the Ministry of National Defense.
