In August this year, 207,000 and in September 367,000 passenger cars were produced in Germany. This is 68 % and 65 % more than a year earlier, respectively. In Poland, there has been a double-digit year-on-year growth rate in the sold production of the automotive industry since May 2022.
In August this year, the industry’s sold production was 40.5 % higher than a year earlier, and in September by as much as 46.5 %. Such a good result is achieved mainly due to a clear recovery in the automotive parts segment – in September this year, engine production was 112 % higher than a year earlier. More trucks (by 118% y-o-y) and buses (by 80% y-o-y) were also produced, according to information from the Polish Economic Institute (PIE).
The recovery in the global automotive industry has started to translate into increasingly better results for Polish exports of the industry’s products. Since May 2022, an export growth rate of over 20% has been recorded, year-on-year. In August, automotive industry products worth almost half as much as a year earlier were sold abroad. Meanwhile, the value of Polish exports of automotive industry products in the first eight months of this year amounted to EUR 25.4 billion and was 9.1% higher than in the same period last year. This accounted for 11.5% of all Polish goods exports, 2.1% lower than in 2019.
As PIE points out, nearly 70% of Polish automotive exports are parts and components for car production. Hence, the situation in global motorisation is important, in particular in Germany, which is our largest customer for parts and components. In the first eight months of this year, more than 35 % of Polish parts were shipped there. Thanks to our participation in global value chains, the Polish added value contained in German cars reaches many countries in the world.
