Polimex Mostostal informed in a stock exchange release that the consortium of Polimex Mostostal and Polimex Infrastruktura concluded a contract with LOT Aircraft Maintenance Services for the design and construction of an aircraft maintenance base at Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport.
The investment at Rzeszów Airport is to be completed within 21 months from the date of the agreement, and the consortium is to receive remuneration for its execution in the amount of PLN 216 million net.
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport has been transformed into a strategic logistics hub. In 2022, it achieved a record net profit of PLN 133 million, when a year earlier it was only PLN 17 million. Sales revenue increased by as much as 776 % compared to 2021.
During the year, 731.1 thousand travellers used the airport’s services and this is the third best result in the airport’s history. This year’s result is likely to be even better, because as the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport reported in June 2023 that, for the first time in history, more than 100,000 passengers in a month. A month later, this record was beaten, as 120 thousand passengers were served, and in August another record of 121 610 people was recorded.
The planned investment by the Polimex consortium of companies is part of a wider project to modernise Rzeszów Airport. Most likely, the runway and the existing taxiway will be repaired for a few months already in 2025, and a new section of the parallel taxiway will be built.
This will improve the airport’s operational capabilities and increase the capacity of the existing runway, which will translate into the possibility of increasing the number of flight operations, informs Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport.
