Within the next 7 days, the Ministry of State Assets will submit to the Council of Ministers a request for consent to the transfer of shares of the consolidated companies to Krajowa Spółka Cukrowa (Polish Sugar) which will establish the National Food Group formally.

The group will consist of 15 leading companies, divided into 6 segments: seed production, sugar production, starch production, cereal and milling sector, agricultural sector and food processing. The revenue of the National Food Group is estimated at PLN 3.5 billion annually. Thanks to the activities undertaken by the Ministry of State Assets and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Food Group will become a strong company in the agri-food segment, with the dominant capital of the State Treasury.

“Today, in the face of the changes caused by the war in Ukraine, it can be seen how important it is for the state to be able to ensure security in many economic areas. That is why we consistently consolidate this state-owned part of the economy”, said Deputy Prime Minister Jacek Sasin.

“Poland is completely self-sufficient in terms of food production. The country’s food security is not threatened. However, we must take further steps to strengthen this security”, added Deputy Prime Minister Sasin.
