Since last year, Germany has continued to lead among the EU countries with a share of roughly 1/4 of the entire GDP of the European Union. Poland remains the sixth economy of the EU.
In 2020, the GDP of the European Union countries amounted to approximately EUR 13.4 trillion. According to Eurostat data, it’s about 7.6% higher than a decade ago but is 5.9% lower than in 2019. Such a regression is the result of the pandemic; it was the first drop in the EU GDP since 2009.
In 2020, Germany generated the most of the EU’s GDP – 25.1%. The next places were taken by France (17.2%), Italy (12.3%), Spain (8.4%) and the Netherlands (6%). Poland was sixth with a GDP equal to 3.9% of the entire European economy, which is a minimal increase compared to last year.
Malta (0.1%), Estonia, Cyprus and Latvia (0.2%) had the lowest share in the EU GDP.
