Poland has just received €5 billion from the RePowerEU programme, which is part of the National Reconstruction Plan (KPO). “The money will be invested in cheap green energy for Polish citizens”, announced Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.
“We will allocate these funds for green investments in cheap, green energy in very different areas. This includes investments in renewable energy sources, as well as in zero-emission transport and energy networks, especially in rural and small urban areas. Thanks to this, citizens who want to have heat pumps or photovoltaic installations, i.e. to put the idea of democratic energy into practice, will be able to connect to modernised energy networks without any obstacles”, said the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz.
Poland applied for additional loan funds under the revision of KPO, programmed in the RePowerEU programme, in March this year. In August, the Minister of Funds and Regional Policy submitted a formal request for a revision of the KPO.
At the end of November, the European Commission gave a positive opinion on the Polish proposals for a revised KPO and a new chapter of the REPowerEU. And on 8 December, the ECOFIN Council, i.e. finance ministers from all EU Member States, formally approved the revision of the Polish NIP. Subsequently, revised agreements for the grant and loan parts were signed bilaterally – by Poland and the European Commission. This enabled the transfer of the due advance to Poland.
It should be recalled that the KPO is a programme from which Poland is to receive €59.82 billion (PLN 261.4 billion), including €25.28 billion (PLN 110.4 billion) in the form of grants and €34.5 billion (PLN 151 billion) in the form of preferential loans.
Most of these funds will be invested in the form of financial instruments, which will enable projects to be implemented after 2026, even for the next 30 years.
