One in three electric buses exported by EU Member States between 2017 and 2021 was from Polish factories. E-buses “made in Poland” are also shipped outside the Union.
According to calculations by the Polish Alternative Fuels Association, Poland is the undisputed leader in terms of electric bus exports in the European Union. Between 2017 and 2021, a total of 1 937 electric buses were shipped from Polish factories to other EU markets. It accounted for more than 31% of all vehicles of this type exported from the Community. The total value of exports from this sector in 2017-2021 is more than EUR 750 million, i.e. 37.9% of the value of e-bus exports from the European Union.
“Apart from lithium-ion batteries, electric buses are the main export commodity of the Polish electromobility industry. Since 2017, our country has led the European Union in terms of the number of electric buses produced and exported. Between 2017 and 2021, a total of 1,937 e-buses were exported from Poland to other markets. The value of electric buses delivered abroad during this period by manufacturers with factories in Poland exceeded EUR 750 million, which accounted for almost 40 % of the total value of exports of such vehicles from the European Union”, said Maciej Mazur, Managing Director of the Polish Alternative Fuels Association.
Zero-emission buses “made in Poland” are also supplied outside the European Union. The largest recipient is Norway, where nearly 150 units have been delivered. It is followed by: UK, Switzerland, Moldova and Ukraine. In total, more than 200 e-buses have been delivered from Poland to countries outside the European Union between 2017 and 2021. It should be noted, part of the production also reaches the domestic market, so by the beginning of next year, around 900 e-buses may operate on Polish roads. It means that it will be one of the largest fleets of electric buses in the European Union.
