Supporting direct cooperation between universities and scientific units in terms of scholarship exchanges and scientific internships for students and research and teaching staff, as well as promoting the teaching of the languages, history and culture of both countries, are the main objectives of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Palestine.
“The Memorandum will enable the development of cooperation between Palestine and Poland through mutual referral of scholarship holders for studies, scientific internships, exchange of experience in higher education and promotion of the teaching of the languages, history and culture of both countries”, states the Ministry of Education and Science.
The Polish side has committed to admit up to five Palestinian nationals per year to BA studies at universities supervised by the Minister of Education and Science. The study at Polish universities will be preceded by a one-year preparatory course of the Polish language.
The Palestinian side will also admit up to five Polish nationals per year for internships, research visits or summer courses in areas including Arabic language, culture and history in institutions of higher education and science operating on Palestinian territory.
“I am very pleased that with this agreement allowing to expand mutual contacts between Poland and Palestine in science and higher education. I am convinced that the implementation of this agreement will serve to strengthen our relations and, above all, provide new opportunities for our students and scientists to develop and expand their knowledge”, said Minister Przemysław Czarnek.
Palestinian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Mahmoud Abu Mouis thanked for the support of the Palestinians and the Palestinian state. He stated that the signed agreement will facilitate Polish-Palestinian cooperation.
