The Podkarpackie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz” is being built in the town of Tajęcina near Rzeszów, in the vicinity of the Airport and the Exhibition and Congress Centre in Jasionka. Its aim is to present science in a modern and innovative way and to encourage creative experimentation and the discovery of scientific curiosities.
The Centre will offer visitors a world of science and technology, interesting experiments, modern technologies, and education combined with fun. There will be a complex of laboratories and educational studios, where activities related to constructing and building devices as well as modelling and DIY will take place.
Active participation in demonstrations and themed workshops will translate into the development of practical skills for children and young people. “The facility will have an impact on reducing social exclusion related to access to science and modern methods of acquiring knowledge while maintaining intergenerational integration”, reports the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy.
The Podkarpackie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz” will be a place for shaping future career preferences, and discovering talents and interests. The centre will popularise science related to the intelligent specialisations of the voivodeship, i.e. aviation, aerospace, IT and the quality of life in the broadest sense. The investment received a subsidy of PLN 76 million from the Podkarpackie Regional Operational Programme.
Science centres are an increasingly popular form of education for understanding the world around us. Six large science centres have already been co-financed with money from the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programmes in Poland. In addition, several smaller projects concerning local science centres and mobile learning labs are being implemented in the Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Wielkopolskie and Zachodniopomorskie Voivodeships.
