by Dignity News
As the leader of the Mazovian Hydrogen Valley, PKN ORLEN has signed a contract commencing its cooperation with 37 entities including representatives of business, science and finance. The cooperation will cover the production, storage and use of zero- and low-emission hydrogen, for transport, energy, municipal economy and agriculture. Contribution to the development of alternative fuels is in line with PKN ORLEN’s efforts to achieve emissions neutrality by 2050.

Mazovian Hydrogen Valley has been established as a cluster to enable the most flexible choice of forms of cooperation between its members. Works on its creation began on October 20, 2021.

The agreements to establish the Masovian Water Valley were signed by PKN ORLEN, Warsaw University of Technology, Łódź University of Technology, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Air Force Institute of Technology, Industrial Development Agency, Polish Chamber of Chemical Industry, Central Communication Port, Łukasiewicz Center and National Sugar Association.

“The cooperation of 37 business, science and finance organizations is a great opportunity for the dynamic development of local hydrogen assets. Low and zero-emission hydrogen technologies are of particular importance for PKN ORLEN, as well as for the entire economy in Poland. They will help achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, but also enable a gradual reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels. As part of the Mazovian Hydrogen Valley, we expect an intensive development of smart specializations, including educating young people and students who will constitute the foundation of Polish innovative hydrogen technologies in the near future”, said Daniel Obajtek, President of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN.
