The KinoGram in the Norblin Factory in Warsaw hosts the exhibition “Remembering Krzysztof” by Piotr Jaxa. The exhibition is a selection of photos documenting the process of creating the “Three Colors” trilogy by Krzysztof Kieślowski. Colorful large-format photographs will be displayed in the foyers of the entire cinema until March 1, 2022.
The photos showing the world-famous Polish director working on “Three Colors” were taken on the set – Piotr Jaxa photographed Kieślowski and his crew every day for nine months.
Piotr Jaxa, photographer, cinematographer, a friend of Kieślowski and author of the exhibition, admits that he had a unique opportunity to observe Krzysztof, his associates and actors during their fascinating process of creating the renowned film trilogy.
Created shortly after the shooting of the film trilogy and shown in the world since 1994, the smaller exhibition “Kieślowski’s Colors” became the basis for the exhibition “Remembering Krzysztof”. “Kieślowski’s Colors” was shown in France, Switzerland and Poland.
The author of the pictures recollects: “There are many stories to tell about Krzysztof Kieślowski as a director, man, friend; about his style, his philosophy of filming, art, life in general, along with his lifestyle, sense of humor, warmth … Many books and articles have been already written about him. As a person dealing with the image, I wanted to talk about Krzysztof through photography.”
Piotr Jaxa is a cinematographer and photographer, a graduate of the Cinematography Department of the National Film, Television and Theater School in Łódź. He has shot several dozen documentaries and fictional films and his works have won awards at festivals in Cannes, Mannheim, Krakow, Los Angeles and Berlin. He is the author of many photo albums.
