PGE and Nokia agreement for the supply and implementation of teletransmission equipment under the LTE450 Programme

by Dignity News
PGE Systemy and PGE Dystrybucja, companies in the PGE Group, have signed an agreement with Nokia Solutions and Networks for the supply and implementation of mobile backhaul (MBH) teletransmission network components for the construction of the LTE450 network. Under the signed agreement, Nokia will be responsible for the delivery and deployment of a total of more than 600 devices in PGE’s teletransmission network, PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

“The LTE450 network is one of the key elements of PGE’s building of a modern energy sector”, said Wojciech Dąbrowski, CEO of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna. “A reliable and secure communications network combined with network metering will provide a constant, up-to-date picture of the functioning of the energy distribution network. This will allow an immediate response to incidents occurring in the network and reduce the time it takes to detect and rectify failures. And digitisation, an essential element of which is the LTE network, will speed up customer service and enable new services to be offered to customers”, he added.

The contract includes the provision of IP/MPLS class routers and switches, synchronisation sources and dedicated surveillance and management systems (OSS System).

According to PGE, the teletransmission network is an essential element in the architecture of the LTE450 system under construction. It is essential for the integration of central LTE components (the CORE LTE core network) with radio transceivers installed at base stations in the field.

The LTE450 programme is part of the timetable for the implementation of modern communications for the Polish energy sector. The process of building the LTE450 network and Operator in the power sector is a multi-year task, in which a division into successive implementation stages is required, which is the case at PGE CG.

The launch of services in the LTE450 network, in the part dedicated to PGE Dystrybucja, is planned for 2024, following the completion of site preparation and installation of equipment acquired in tenders.
