The Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PAŻP) has concluded an agreement with air traffic controllers. There will be no paralysis of air traffic over Poland. Air traffic controllers will not quit their jobs. This will allow air traffic to proceed normally.
The Minister of Infrastructure, Andrzej Adamczyk, announced that the regulation concerning possible flight restrictions, announced a few days ago, will not be implemented. There will be no cuts in both regular and charter connections. For passengers, this means that they will be able to safely fly on the May holidays and later. If no agreement was reached, then from May 1, air traffic over Poland could be limited.
In November last year, PAŻP entered into force a new remuneration system, which introduced lower remuneration. Over 100 Warsaw inspectors did not accept these dismissals and threatened to quit their jobs. This would paralyze air traffic at two Mazovian airports – the Chopin airport in Warsaw and at the Warsaw-Modlin airport in Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki.
On Thursday, during the session of the parliamentary standing subcommittee on air transport, an agreement was signed providing the inspectors will not have reduced salaries, and the PAŻP management will strive to change the work system of the inspectors. The agreement is temporary. Both sides will continue to negotiate both working conditions and the payment system.
The provisional agreement will be valid until July 10. By then, a final agreement will be reached. The talks of the management of the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency had been going on for several weeks, both sides negotiated several hours a day. The talks concerned safety, work and remuneration regulations.
