At the end of January this year there were over 39,000 electric cars on Polish roads., i.e. by 88% more than a year ago, informs the latest “Electromobility meter”. The number of generally accessible charging stations is also growing by 60 in January.
According to the data of the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA) and the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM), at the end of January, there were 39,328 electric cars registered in Poland. Fully electric vehicles (BEVs) contributed to 49% of the market and 51% were plug-in hybrids (PHEV vehicles).
The “Electromobility Meter” informs that at the end of January 2022, there were 1,992 publicly accessible charging stations for electric vehicles (3,893 chargers) in Poland. Among them, 28% were fast-charging stations with direct current (DC), and 72% – slow AC chargers with a power less than or equal to 22 kW. In January, 60 new, generally accessible charging stations were launched.
The fleet of electric vans and trucks after the first month of 2022, amounted to 1,738 vehicles, which means an increase of 145%. Also, there is an increase of electric mopeds and motorcycles, which amounted to 10, 667 at the end of January and the number of hybrid passenger cars and delivery vehicles was almost 335,000. The electric bus fleet in Poland increased to 655 vehicles at the end of last month.
PSPA managing director Maciej Mazur noted that in the last three months, almost three times more public charging stations (280) have been launched in Poland, compared to the turn of 2021 and 2020 (101). Mazur predicts that the further expansion of the network will be accelerated by the charging infrastructure support program launched by the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management, and the first effects of implementing the support system can translate into an increase in the number of launched chargers and may be visible in the second half of 2022.
According to the president of PZPM, Jakub Farys, the number of public charging points is still insufficient, despite its increase. He added that in the case of transport companies, this problem can be solved relatively easily thanks to the construction of dedicated charging points located in transport bases.
The “Electromobility meter” updated by PZPM and PSPA is available on the organization’s website. The report shows how many electric vehicles are currently circulating on Polish roads and how many charging stations are in operation. The study is based on complex data analyses from the Central Vehicle Register, as well as own research and records.
