Over 30,000 Ukrainians found work in Poland after the outbreak of the war, says minister Maląg

by Dignity News
“After February 24, over 30,000 Ukrainian citizens people started working in Poland. 75 % of them are women”, announced the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg, on Monday, April 4 in Płock.

Refugees take up employment mainly in large cities: including Warsaw, Poznań, Łódź and Wrocław. However, as Minister Maląg emphasized, their goal is to look for a job and take it up all over the country.

The Ministry of Family and Social Policy also analyzes the employment structure of refugees. Approximately 25% of people from this group were employed under employment contracts, and 73% received mandate agreements. Refugees from Ukraine find work mainly in the hotel industry, gastronomy, the care sector and at the beginning of seasonal work.

The head of the ministry of family and social policy stated that under the adopted special act, Ukrainian citizens have access to the Polish labour market and no longer need permits or declarations to legally work in Poland.

An employer who hires a refugee from Ukraine to work has only to notify it to the competent labour office via the praca.gov.pl website within 14 days. Ukrainian citizens can also use the services of the labour market in the form of job placement, career counselling and training on the same terms as Polish citizens.
