PKN Orlen announced in a statement that the Orlen Group had signed an agreement to take over 25 gas stations in Slovakia. As a result, the number of the company’s stations in Slovakia will increase to 47 spots, and Orlen will be among the five largest operators on this market.
The new stations of the largest Polish concern will be located throughout Slovakia, among others in Bratislava or Košice. The self-service facilities will operate under the Orlen Express brand.
“We consistently implement the strategy of the Orlen Group, investing in the dynamic development of the fuel station network not only in Poland but also in the region. Investments in a network of petrol stations abroad are an important element in strengthening the international recognition of the Orlen brand, but also its business position. Especially since we already have a 14.5% share in the wholesale market in Slovakia. Additionally, after the merger with the Lotos Group, another 41 stations in this country will be added to our network, and thus we will consolidate the strong position of the Orlen Group on the market. In the near future, we are planning further investments in the region and we will acquire another 100 gas stations” announced the president of PKN Orlen, Daniel Obajtek.
The process of taking over 25 stations should start in June this year, after obtaining the consent of the Slovak monopoly office. All gas stations in Slovakia will ultimately operate under the Orlen brand as a result of the successive rebranding process.
Petrol stations in Slovakia that will be purchased by the Orlen Group are express facilities, so they are self-service spots. Therefore, due to their nature, they will ultimately operate under the Orlen Express brand. Finally, drivers will have access to the full range of Verva and Efecta fuels. The payment can be made using payment or fuel cards using a special panel at the dispenser.
When all the announced acquisition plans are implemented, a total of 88 fuel stations in Slovakia will operate within the Orlen Group. In total, by the end of 2030, at least 3.5 thousand stations will operate under the Orlen brand in the CEE region and the share of foreign stations in the entire network will increase from 37% up to 45%.
