Concerts, exhibitions, conferences, performances, scientific shows – are just some of the attractions planned for the opening of the Podkarpacie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz” in Jasionka near Rzeszów, which will last from 15 to 17 December.
“We are expecting an exceptional event. For three days we will celebrate the opening of the Podkarpacie Science Centre, hold a conference on the functioning of the centre itself and the person of Ignacy Łukasiewicz. We will also promote European Funds, as 85 % of the financing for this facility is provided by them”, said Władysław Ortyl, Marshall of the Podkarpackie voivodship, during a press conference.
On Thursday 15 December, the official opening will be combined with the presentation of awards to people who have been particularly involved in promoting Ignacy Łukasiewicz. On the second day, there will be a scientific conference devoted to Łukasiewicz’s works, and Saturday will be an open day for all those who wish to visit the exhibitions at the Science Centre.
“From the beginning, the mission of our centre has been to show the relationship between the natural world and what we have achieved as humans. We want it to be a place visited not only by young people, schoolchildren, but by people of all ages, because science for everyone can be a great adventure. We start the inauguration of the Podkarpacie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz” with unique classes and scientific demonstrations”, said Tomasz Michalski – Deputy Director of the Podkarpacie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz”.
The Podkarpacie Science Centre “Łukasiewicz” was built in Jasionka near the Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport, in the vicinity of the G2A Arena Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Its construction cost nearly PLN 100 million, of which more than PLN 76 million is EU funding from the 2014-2020 Regional Operational Programme for the Podkarpacie Voivodeship. Nearly PLN 18 million is provided by the provincial budget.
