The Minister of Development and Technology, Piotr Nowak said directly that the EU’s Fit for 55 Package will kill the economy of the European Union.

After working in Washington at the International Monetary Fund and meeting various investors who regard the economy realistically, through the prism of competitiveness, the laws of the economy, not ideology, minister Nowak concludes that the package is killing the economy in the European Union.

In terms of the CO2 emission allowance trading system, the head of the Ministry of Development recalled that Poland was proposing a reform of the ETS. The serious reasons for it are weaknesses in this system that allow speculation. According to the Institute in Potsdam, the certificate trading system should be monitored.

Minister Nowak also cited data on Polish GDP in the program and compared them with other economies in the world. According to the minister, Poland has a higher level of production, it looks like Polish economy is doing very well and if to look even earlier, since the end of 2015, real GDP in Poland has increased by 24%. At the same time, in Germany it grew by 6%, in the European Union by 9%, and in the United States by 12%.  Nowak emphasizes that in fact, for last 6 years Poland’s economy has been growing 4 times faster than Germany’s GDP and it confirms that the government’s economic policy is very efficient
