The TV competition “Giants of Science” will be included in the programme offer of the newest thematic channel of the Polish Television – TVP Nauka, scheduled to be launched on 3 October.
“Giants of Science” is a scientific tele-tournament based on the original TVP format, which will combine excitement, fun and education with a mission to popularise science. Each episode will feature one topic with one winner who will most accurately answer questions prepared by experts, journalists and competitors. The winner of the quiz show will be awarded the title Giant of Science and a prize of PLN 20,000, reports the Information Centre of Telewizja Polska.
The tele-tournament will consist of 3 rounds and a final and will be hosted by Łukasz Nowicki. In the autumn, participants will tackle the topics: “Conquest of the cosmos”, “Nobel Prize winners”, “Ignacy Łukasiewicz. From the paraffin lamp to electric propulsion’, ‘Great epidemics’, ‘Secrets of the Polish forests’, ‘Maria Skłodowska-Curie’, ‘Weather and climate’, ‘Renewable energy’, ‘The brain and its secrets’, ‘The solar system’, ‘Nicolaus Copernicus’, ‘Vanishing species’.
The TVP Science channel will start on 3 October, with the first episode of ‘Giants of Science’ already on Sunday, 9 October at 15:30.
The schedule of the new TVP channel on 3, 4, 5 and 10 October will also include broadcasts of the announcement of the Nobel Prizes, which will be commented by the Nobel Studio. Marta Kielczyk and Michał Juszczakiewicz’s guests will be eminent scientists who will talk about the nominees and their discoveries and try to predict who will be awarded the Nobel prizes this year.
Every Saturday at 18.00, Science Report, a weekly overview of the most important events in the world of science, will be broadcast.
And every Wednesday at 15:30, viewers will be able to watch the Polish National Parks magazine. The programme will be moderated by Dariusz Gross. National parks, known as tourist places, now will be rediscovered from the perspective of scientists exploring the secrets of ecosystems.
