New Polish hydrogen bus to clean the air

by Dignity News
NesoBus is a completely new, zero-emission hydrogen city bus, manufactured in Poland. Powered by green hydrogen, it is the greenest bus for city dwellers and public transport. It was created by Polish constructors and engineers in cooperation with partners from Europe and around the world.

The bus is 12 m long for 93 persons, including 37 seats, it does not emit exhaust fumes, purifies the air, and the only thing it emits is water vapour.

The construction of the Polish hydrogen bus is made from scratch as a hydrogen bus – it is not a modification of diesel or battery-powered buses. The start of serial production is planned for 2023 in the emerging factory in Świdnik. Annually, 100 NesoBuses will be completed there.

NesoBus generates electricity on an ongoing basis thanks to the “mini-power plant”. The fueled hydrogen combines with the oxygen taken from the air. The Polsat Group, which created the vehicle, states that in this way the energy to power the drive is generated. Instead of exhaust gases, only water vapour is released into the atmosphere.

Fueling NesoBus takes only 15 minutes and allows to travel up to 450 km. The manufacturer states that it consumes an average of about 8 kg of hydrogen per 100 km. The tanks have a capacity of 37.5 kg of hydrogen. “In the SORT-2 test, it consumed 5.5 kg of hydrogen per 100 km” informs Polsat Group.

The Polish construction is the result of international cooperation. As the manufacturer revealed, “the exterior and interior were designed by the Italian company Torino Design, specializing in the automotive industry, fuel cells come from the world leader in this field, Ballard, and hydrogen tanks from Hexagon, a company specializing in the production of hydrogen tanks”.
