by DignityNews.eu

Tauron Ekoenergia’s wind park will expand with another large-scale farm. Construction work has started on the WF Mierzyn, with a total capacity of 58.5 MW, located in the West Pomeranian province. Total expenditures related to the acquisition and construction of this investment, which will be completed in 2024, will amount to approximately PLN 500 million.

The company said that it has begun the pouring of foundations for the 15 wind turbines of WF Mierzyn, which will be the group’s second onshore wind farm in terms of installed capacity, after FW Marszewo. Tauron bought the wind farm project with a location in the village of Mierzyn, in the municipality of Karlino, Bialogard district, West Pomeranian province, in June 2022. The construction of the Mierzyn wind farm, as assumed, will be completed by the end of 2024. The total capital expenditure associated with the acquisition and implementation of this investment will amount to approximately PLN 500 million.

“Wind turbines installed onshore are some of the cheapest, but also most efficient generating units, hence their special place in Tauron’s green portfolio. By 2025, we want to install 0.7 GW in onshore technology”, said Tauron Polska Energia’s president Paweł Szczeszek.

Four more on-shore farms are also under construction, including:  WF Nowa Brzeźnica in the Łódź province (20 MW), WF Warblewo in the Pomeranian province (30 MW) and WF Mierzyn (58.5 MW) in Western Pomerania.

Currently, Tauron Ekoenergia’s RES generation portfolio, has a total capacity of 569 MWe, and consists of 11 wind farms with a total capacity of 417 MWe, 34 hydropower plants with a total capacity of 133 MWe, and two photovoltaic farms with a total capacity of 19 MWe. During the three quarters of 2022, the group generated 0.93 TWh of gross electricity production from wind, hydro and photovoltaic sources. The segment’s EBITDA for the period amounted to PLN 382 million.
