NATO Education, Analysis and Training Centre – Ukraine to be established in Poland

by Dignity News

Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz attended a meeting of defence ministers of NATO countries at the Alliance’s Headquarters in Brussels. After the talks, the head of the defence ministry announced NATO’s decision to establish the NATO Education, Analysis and Training Centre – Ukraine in Poland.

“The decision was made at today’s meeting of the national defence ministers of NATO countries. We have full agreement, and we are starting the creation of this centre. It is a multi-stage process, but today, also after bilateral talks, I am glad that all member states support this initiative. This is the first initiative of this kind between NATO and Ukraine, which gives tangible results in the form of the centre that is being created, which is vitally needed to gather experience from the war and to strengthen support for the fighting Ukraine”, said the head of the Ministry of Defence (MON).

In Brussels, Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz signed letters of intent on proposals for cooperation under the Multinational Procurement Initiative (MPI), involving the establishment of two separate initiatives for the joint procurement of missiles, missile systems and ammunition.

As part of their implementation, countries will establish the possibility of combining their efforts on multi-year, international procurement of ammunition, missiles and weapons systems and related industrial cooperation. The initiatives support the implementation of the NATO Defence Production Action Plan. Poland’s involvement in the initiatives will provide access to the knowledge and experience of other countries interested in deepening cooperation in the areas indicated.

During the visit to Brussels, bilateral meetings were also held by the head of the Ministry of Defence with, among others, the minister of defence of Lithuania, Germany, Norway, Turkey, France and the secretary of defence of the United Kingdom. The subjects of the talks included bilateral military cooperation, security threats in the region and further strengthening of NATO’s eastern flank.
