The General Command of the Armed Forces informed that on Monday, February 21, the US-organized multinational Saber Strike 2022 (SbS22) exercise began in Poland. It is participated by 1,300 soldiers from Poland and about 300 items of military equipment.
Saber Strike is an annual, international tactical exercise held in Poland every two years, which prepares allies and partners to respond to regional crises and meet their own security needs by improving border security and counteracting threats.
The General Command of the Armed Forces emphasizes that the SbS22 exercise will be carried out in accordance with the exercise program of the Polish Armed Forces for 2022. Training events, such as the Saber Strike 22, are planned in advance and are not related to any current or ongoing operation.
As part of the exercise, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the USA will march from Germany to the Baltic States through the territory of Poland, on the route, Jędrzychowice (border crossing with Germany), Żagań, Wrocław, Łask, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Orzysz, Budzisko (border crossing with Lithuania). The march on the Żagań-Orzysz section, participated by the 17th Mechanized Brigade participates, is headed by the 11th Armored Cavalry Division. Joint training of Polish soldiers and allies will take place at the training ground in Bemowo Piskie. All activities in Poland are coordinated and directed by the Polish Army.
About 1,300 Polish soldiers and about 300 items of military equipment from the 17th Mechanized Brigade, 15th Mechanized Brigade, 1st Aviation Brigade of Land Forces, 3rd Air Defense Rocket Brigade, 4th Chemical Regiment, 1st and 2nd Tactical Aviation Wings, Territorial Defense will take part in the exercise Saber Strike 2022.
