Minister of Education and Science Przemysław Czarnek handed over a symbolic cheque for more than PLN 5.5 million to the rectors of the State Higher Vocational School (PWSZ) in Nysa. Those funds will be allocated for the development and maintenance of teaching potential and another element of the ministry’s support for Polish vocational universities, reports the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN).
“Last week we handed over financial support of PLN 136 million to vocational schools. The money will allow the development of higher vocational education in various regions of Poland”, said the head of the MEiN.
From 1 October, the PWSZ in Nysa will be transformed into the State Academy of Applied Sciences in Nysa. It is a higher school with modern teaching facilities, simulation centres for medical and technical sciences. It offers education in 12 majors of study. The university is equipped to conduct classes, courses and workshops remotely using state-of-the-art technology.
During his visit to the Opole region, Minister Czarnek also met with residents of Brzeg, with whom he discussed the most important challenges for Polish education in the context of events in Europe and the world.
“The reality has been difficult for 2.5 years. This is what we intend to talk about, the causes and consequences of this state of affairs. I am here to listen to your valuable ideas, concerns, questions and demands”, said the head of the Ministry of Education and National Heritage, opening the meeting.
Minister Czarnek stressed that the refugee crisis has shown the openness and great solidarity of all Poles. He pointed out that in the context of including Ukrainian children in the Polish education system, cooperation with local governments is crucial.
“We are working closely with local governments to continue to develop increasingly effective strategies. Thanks to these discussions, we are ready to accept more pupils into the Polish educational system”, announced the head of the Ministry of Education and Science.
