“We have amended the provisions of the law this year allowing to establish investment programmes for non-governmental schools by the Ministry of Education and Science (MEiN), and we have earmarked PLN 140 million for this purpose”, announced the head of the MEiN, Przemysław Czarnek.
During a visit to the Henryk Sienkiewicz Community Primary School in Biała Podlaska, the Minister of Education spoke about money for investment in educational infrastructure.
“It should be recalled that, only in the last 12 months, the central government has transferred PLN 5,2 billion to local government schools from funds targeted for this kind of investment. In contrast, earlier no such money could be obtained for community schools run by associations, such as Dobra Szkoła,” said Minister Czarnek.
The head of the education ministry pointed out that in the spring 2022, the government changed the provisions of the act allowing to establish special investment programmes in the Ministry of Education and National Heritage for various schools, including association schools.
“As a result, this year we have allocated a total of PLN 140 million of investment funds in the state budget for programmes implemented in the Ministry of Education. Within the framework of these funds we are building schools, extending schools, constructing gymnasiums, building sports facilities, equipping schools, also providing them with the necessary vehicles, buses and everything else that is necessary so that 100 thousand students can also learn in such schools, including association, Catholic and other schools run by various foundations”, noted the head of the Ministry of Education and National Heritage.
According to the Ministry of Education and Science, a total of PLN 5.2 billion has been allocated to local authorities across Poland as part of the two Government’s Polish Governance Fund – Strategic Investment Programme. These are funds earmarked for the construction of kindergartens, playing fields, sports halls, the expansion and modernisation of schools, and the development of a care system for young children and pupils.
