Health Minister Adam Niedzielski informed that in April a decision will be made whether the state of the epidemic in Poland will be changed into an epidemic threat. He added that legal analyzes are currently underway.

“Talking of the state of the epidemic, indeed we are conducting more legal analyzes, because a lot of legislation has been already introduced in relation to the state of the epidemic. We want to take such a step to change this state of epidemic into an epidemic emergency”, said Minister Niedzielski. When asked when it would happen, he replied that decisions on this subject would be made in April, because at the moment legal analyzes are being carried out as to what types of regulations are related to the state of the epidemic.

The head of the Ministry of Health was also asked whether he believed that in the pre-Christmas week only 8.5 thousand people fell ill with COVID-19 in Poland.

“Of course, I will not argue that these are all the infections that have occurred in the country, but we have a much better epidemic situation. It results mainly from the fact that we do not only look at the vaccination percentages, but also the overall immunity in Polish society, and according to our research, it is above 95%”, said Minister Niedzielski.

The head of the Ministry of Health pointed out that when it comes to the epidemic situation, it has changed compared to the one at the beginning of the pandemic, because then one could only wear masks and disinfect one’s hands, and today we have real combat tools. He talked about vaccinations, drugs and immunity as a result of disease.

“This is a situation in which we can feel much more comfortable, because we have real combat tools”, he emphasized and added that this does not mean the end of COVID yet.

“No, this COVID will accompany us all the time and we probably also have to look with some anxiety at September, if there is an issue of seasonality, it is not that it disappears from our space. We are simply better able to deal with it”, emphasized the head of the Ministry of Health.
