An international conference on energy security was held in Warsaw on 13-14 September 2023. More than 20 energy ministers and deputy ministers from across Europe attended at the invitation of the Ministry of Climate and Environment.

The main theme of the conference was “Energy security beyond 2023. – Achieving winter preparedness in turbulent times”. In addition to Anna Moskwa, Minister of Climate and Environment, the meeting and discussions were also attended by European Commissioner for Energy Kadri Simson, Ukrainian Energy Minister German Galushchenko, Bulgarian Energy Minister Rumen Radev, Slovakian Economy Minister Petr Dovhun, Lithuanian Energy Minister Dainius Kreivys, Greek Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Alexandra Sdoukou and International Energy Agency Deputy Executive Director Mary Burce Warlick.

In her speech, Anna Moscow emphasised that last year’s energy crisis was a kind of test for the entire free world, and it was survived thanks to cooperation.

“Recent years have confirmed that consistent implementation of investment plans builds resilience and makes it possible to emerge ‘defensively’ in crisis situations. Poland has shown that it was right to encourage all EU countries to deregulate their energy policies. Poland has built a strong coalition of European states around this objective”, she noted.

“Poland spent years developing infrastructure for independence from Russian resources. Strategic investments, e.g. the Baltic Pipe gas pipeline, new gas connections with Lithuania and Slovakia, the expansion of the LNG Terminal, or plans for an FSRU in the Gulf of Gdansk, are crown projects strengthening the energy security of the country and the region”, she explained.

Minister Anna Moskwa pointed out that Poland is one of the most dynamically developing markets in the EU in terms of photovoltaics, prosumerism and employment in the segment of renewable energy sources.
