The Military University of Technology (WAT) in Warsaw has opened the Radio Science and Didactic Centre after a construction period of nearly 2.5 years. It was established thanks to the cooperation of the WAT with the Ministry of Development and Technology, the Department of Military Education of the Ministry of Defence, the Command-and-Control Board P6 and the Material Planning Board P8 of the General Staff and the American company L3HARRIS Technologies Inc.
“We are providing our employees, but above all the Polish army, with a beautiful new facility, creating excellent conditions for the training of personnel and the development of technical thought in the field of radio communications”, said Prof. Ryszard Szplet, dean of the Faculty of Electronics at WAT during the ceremonial opening of the Radio Science and Didactics Centre.
Rector-Commander of the WAT, Brigadier General Prof. Przemysław Wachulak, emphasised that modern ICT systems determine the advantage and success on the modern battlefield.
“Secure and reliable exchange of information enables effective cooperation of elements used in warfare. Building a common picture of the operational situation is the basis for making optimal decisions and effectively directing troops and fire assets”, added Brig. Gen. Prof. Przemysław Wachulak.
The Centre will primarily provide training in the use of L3Harris Technologies’ radio stations, which are used to equip equipment and armaments currently being acquired for the Polish army. Training in the operation of radio stations from other manufacturers used by the Polish armed forces and research work on the development and integration of radio systems will also be carried out.
The new WAT facility will develop and continue the technical solutions in radio communications of the Institute of Communications Systems.
