The Military University of Technology and the Łukasiewicz Research Network signed an agreement assuming joint implementation of research and development projects, transfer of work results to the economy, technical and technological consultations and improving the qualifications of students, academic staff of the Military University of Technology (WAT) and scientists of Łukasiewicz. The most promising areas of cooperation are related to technologies in security engineering, energy and satellite technologies.
The agreement was signed by Rector-Commandant of the Military University of Technology, Col. Prof. Eng. Przemysław Wachulak and President of the Łukasiewicz Research Network Piotr Dardziński.
Currently, the budget of the projects in which the parties to the agreement are involved exceeds PLN 230 million. It includes the work carried out under the PIAST project, aimed at placing in orbit around the Earth a constellation of three nanosatellites intended for Earth observation. The Military University of Technology is the leader of this project, and a member of the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Aviation consortium. The project is co-financed by the National Center for Research and Development.
WAT also conducts research with the Łukasiewicz – Institute of Microelectronics and Photonics on new weapons and directed-energy defence systems. The result of the cooperation is laser systems of directed energy weapons and laser systems of non-lethal weapons.
Later this year, the parties of the agreement are planning to start work on the development of hybrid systems of absorbers of electromagnetic radiation and kinetic energy.
The cooperation between the Military University of Technology and Łukasiewicz also includes the organization and planning of programs increasing the qualifications of employees of the research department of the Łukasiewicz institutes as well as of teaching, research and teaching and research staff of a military university.
